Pasay City, 10 July 2024 — The Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) has reaffirmed its relationship with Homonym during a recent meeting where the two organizations explored potential opportunities for collaboration.
CITEM spearheads CREATEPhilippines, the country’s flagship trade promotion program that showcases the Philippines' creative industries as a high-potential export sector. On the other hand, Homonym is the organizer of Sonik Philippines, the country's premier music conference and showcase festival.
Co-founded by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Sonik Philippines began as a conference addressing various topics within the music industry. Since then, it has evolved to focus on music export by organizing delegations to international music festivals and conferences, with the ultimate goal of establishing a Philippine Music Export Office.
“It makes sense to focus on export because it encompasses all the pressing issues in the industry,” said Mike Constantino, Founder and CEO of Homonym.
Homonym and CITEM collaborated during CREATEPhilippines 2017, where Homonym brought in artists, including Ben&Ben, to perform. United in their shared goal of promoting Filipino music globally, CITEM and Homonym are keen to work together again to revitalize the music industry.
